Laman Con 2024 ~ Saturday, May 11th

A full day of free fun for all ages and fandoms!

A new Comic Con has hit the scene and it's right here in North Little Rock! Leave it to our neighborhood library to create a family-friendly event with something for everyone from K-Pop fans to Dungeon Masters, Gamers, and kids of all ages!

Activities and events are scheduled throughout the day at the Laman Main Branch on Orange St. in North Little Rock on Saturday, May 11th from 9 am to 4 pm. We've organized them by age so you can find the best events for your family! 

Keep in mind that these are suggested ages. You know your child best. And don't forget the wonderful playground for people of all ages and abilities out in the Laman Courtyard for when you need to take a fresh air break or get the zoomies out! (Get a bite to eat from the food trucks while you're out there!)

Children's Dept

All Day:

  • The Droids You Are Looking For ~ self-guided scavenger hunt for families. 
  • Ages 3-9; adult participation needed

10:00-11:00 am:

  • Face Painting ~ Choose from fun and simple face paint stencil options.
  • Ages 3-9

2:00-3:00 pm:

  • Teddy Bear Cosplay ~ Bring your stuffed animal and customize a superhero-style costume! 
  • Supplies are limited so arrive early. Stuffed animals are not provided but all other materials will be.
  • Adult supervision is required as hot glue guns may be in use.

Rover (outside)

All Day:

  • Rover Dress-up

10:00 am

  • D.C. Jeopardy! Play Jeopardy with a twist- questions are D.C.-themed and will come from the comics, movies, and T.V. shows. 
  • All ages are welcome

1:00 pm

  • Marvel fans unite! Show us what you know in this Marvel-themed game of Jeopardy.
  • All ages are welcome

Studio (2nd floor; elevator available)

11:00 am - Cosplay is for Everyone

  • Join Jo in the Studio and learn about cosplay and the amazing varieties this art form comes in.
  • Cosplay doesn't need to be over-the-top or intimidating. There are no "right' or "wrong" ways to cosplay.
  • Come with questions and let Jo help problem-solve projects on any budget.

All Day:

  • Artist Alley ~ see our featured artists and artisans
  • Bake the World a Better Place will be in the cafe and the Studio's Rotunda will be filled with sweet treats!
  • Cosplay on Display ~ see a variety of costume and cosplay pieces on display including a work in progress.
  • Cosplay Medic ~ Meet this magical creature who travels the realms to help people mend their costumes. See her tools and hear about her adventures mending costumes, clothes, shoes, and bags!
  • Make a souvenir Button! Choose from multiple designs made just for Laman Con 2024 and make a button to take home. Fun for the whole family. All materials are provided and no skills are required.
  • Make a Laman Con 2024 T-shirt or Bag ~ available while supplies last. Adult supervision is needed to use the heat press. 

Tech Hub (2nd floor; elevator available)

11:00 am - Mario Kart Tournament  

  • Any age and skill level is welcome. No registration is required. The winner gets a $20 Steam Gift Card.

2:00 pm - Mortal Kombat Tournament

  • Any age and skill level is welcome. No registration is required. The winner gets a $20 Steam Gift Card.

All Day:

  • Indie Game Arcade ~ All ages: Eight different Indie games will be on display and ready to play.
    • Try Baba is You, Catlateral Damage, Home Safety Hotline, Minit, Superliminal, Un pas fragile, Viewfinder, and Witchball. Carol will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.
  • Artemis Spaceship Simulator ~ Any age and skill level
    • Artemis is an Immersive Multiplayer Experience blending role-playing and real-time strategy elements. Players take on specific roles on a spaceship, fostering teamwork and communication.

10:00 am-4:00 pm

  • PC Gaming ~ extended all-day play, nor registration is required.

The Loft (2nd floor in the mezzanine above the Children's Dept; elevator available)

  • Dungeons & DMs - Panel Discussion
    • Six local D&D Dungeon Masters share the tricks of the trade, discuss diversity at their tables, and give you their best tips for launching your own Dungeons and Dragons campaign.
    • The discussion will conclude with an open Q&A session.
    • Open to all ages
